A Farewell to msXsms: End of Support Announced for Longstanding Messaging Platform
In 2009, BNS launched msXsms for Exchange Server, delivering enterprise-grade SMS capabilities integrated directly into Microsoft Exchange. For over 15 years, it has supported countless organisations across financial services, government, utilities, healthcare, and other critical sectors where reliable, secure messaging matters most.
However, technology evolves. Security expectations shift. Cloud-first architectures redefine how modern organisations manage communications.
With the successful release of BNS Enterprise SMS Server (general availability from 1 July 2025), we are officially announcing the end of support for msXsms for Exchange Server effective 1 July 2026. Select customers with extended support agreements may continue receiving updates and maintenance through 1 July 2027.
Why this matters:
- Stronger security: The new Enterprise SMS Server meets today’s highest security and compliance standards, including Microsoft Purview integration and full alignment with the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) Secure Cloud Blueprint.
- Cloud-native flexibility: Designed to run inside your organisation’s own Azure or AWS tenancy, giving you full control over your cloud messaging environment.
- Future-ready architecture: Leveraging modern SQL and Windows Server platforms to ensure scale, stability, and resilience.
For organisations still running msXsms, we encourage early planning for transition to the new platform to ensure a smooth migration well ahead of the 2026 deadline.
